A software vendor secured a signature from a family-owned parts distributor on the 14th hole of its annual Client Appreciation Golf Day Thursday, completing a $612,000 sale in which the product was not shown.

The contract was signed on the back of a scorecard and witnessed by a beverage cart. The distributor’s warehouse manager, who was not invited, said the vendor has not asked how orders are received, picked or shipped. “He said we’d cover that in discovery,” the manager said.

The Pickle Llama was observed near the 15th green, chewing the flag. Asked whether the software ran, he said, “Does it run?” Nobody present could say. He left in a cart that was not his.
